Eliminate Background Noise on Google Meet Calls, Even When Dialing in from Your Phone

Google Meet’s noise cancellation feature is expanding to phone users, making calls more peaceful. As part of Google Workspace’s suite of productivity tools, phone users can now enjoy the same elimination of background noise as desktop users. The technology can remove background noises such as typing, closing a door, room echo, or the sounds of a nearby construction site, enabling complete focus without distraction. It only filters out noises that are not clearly those of a human voice, so other sounds needed in the call, such as the playing of musical instruments, should have noise cancellation turned off. Noise cancellation for phone users is available for select Workspace customers only. To toggle noise cancellation on or off, tap or click the cog icon that opens up the settings when on Google Meet. For iPhone and Android device users, they should see a noise cancellation option that they can tap to activate or deactivate. Desktop/laptop users will find this option under the audio section of the settings. Noise cancellation is currently unavailable to those in South Africa, UAE, and the immediately surrounding areas.
In today’s remote work environment, video conferencing has become a crucial part of daily communication. However, background noise can be a significant stumbling block to smooth communication during conference calls. This is where noise-canceling technology comes into play. Many devices are equipped with noise-canceling technology but not all of them work the same.

Google Meet is a popular video conferencing app that allows people to connect and communicate remotely. However, noise can be a significant issue, making it difficult to hear what is being said during the call. Thankfully, Google has introduced noise-canceling technology that eliminates all background noise, making your meetings more productive.

One of the main features of Google Meet’s noise-canceling technology is its ability to filter out background noise, whether it’s a barking dog or the sound of typing on a keyboard. Moreover, it does not require any special equipment to work. Google Meet’s noise-canceling technology works through software alone.

While this feature is already impressive, what sets this technology apart is that it works even when calling in from your phone. Google Meet’s mobile app is designed to eliminate background noise in the same way as the desktop version. The feature philters out noise as you speak, making it clearer for your participants to receive your message.

To activate this feature on your phone, make sure you’re using the latest version of the app. Once you are on a call, tap the three dots icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. This will bring up a menu that includes a “Noise cancellation” option. Turn it on, and the app will immediately start eliminating any sounds around you, allowing the other participants to hear you loud and clear.

In conclusion, Google Meet’s noise-canceling technology is a game-changer in the video conferencing world, especially when dialing in from your phone. Whether you’re working from home or in a noisy environment, noise-canceling technology ensures that your message is clearly received, increasing productivity and reducing frustration among team members.
