Jonathan Majors‘ lawyer claims that he is innocent and that the woman who accused him of assault has recanted her story. Criminal defense attorney Priya Chaudhry, who is representing Majors, says that they are gathering evidence to present to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped soon.

Chaudhry cites evidence they have gathered to back up their version of events, including video footage from within the vehicle where the alleged assault occurred, witness testimony from the driver and others who saw/heard the episode, and two written statements that Chaudry claims are from the alleged victim in this case.

Chaudry insists that the statements show the alleged victim fully recanting her allegations, and she adds that they will present all evidence to the authorities in due time to prove Majors’ innocence.

Chaudry explains that Majors was arrested because it is standard procedure in police departments to make an arrest after an allegation is levied and if there is probable cause to back up the claims. In this instance, the NYPD says there were visible injuries.

Jonathan Majors’ Assault Case: What We Know So Far

Jonathan Majors, the star of HBO’s “Lovecraft Country,” has been charged with misdemeanor assault, aggravated harassment, attempted assault, and harassment. The charges stem from an incident that occurred in New York City in March 2023. According to reports, Majors allegedly assaulted a woman who is believed to be his girlfriend.

Majors’ attorney has denied the allegations, stating that the actor “did not commit any crime.” The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has not commented on the specifics of the case, but they have confirmed that a limited court-ordered protection for the alleged victim has been put in place. The D.A. has also requested a full order of protection, indicating that they feel the alleged victim needs a bigger forcefield.

Despite the charges, Majors has continued to work. He recently signed on to be the face of a new U.S. Army ad campaign, but two ads starring him have since been yanked. The U.S. Army says they’re doing their due diligence and will see how things play out before moving forward.
